Sophia & Muro

There is beauty even in the darkest of times…

No one could have predicted we’d be living in a weird dystopian world a few weeks ago, but here we are. I don’t know when it’s all going to end and I don’t know when my next shoot is going to be but I’m thankful that myself and my family are healthy right now and that’s important.

Just before lockdown occurred I went out with Sophia and her beautiful pup to Sullington Warren.

Yes he really is a puppy, just ten months old and a breed I’ve not encountered before, a Turkish Kangal Shepherd Dog.

Originating in Turkey and often referred to as a sheep dog, it is not actually a herding dog but rather a flock guardian that lives with the flock of sheep to actively fend off predators of all sizes including wolves and bears.

Muro (meaning wall in Italian) won’t be needing that particular set of skills in Sussex as he is just a pet who is yet to grown into his rather large paws. He is a big soppy giant with the coat like dense wool and a bark like a bellowing foghorn.

We walked for over an hour through dense gorse bushes and crunchy fern strewn forest glades, pausing to make the most of the quiet. We chatted about how life might change and how much we have to be thankful for.

It’s not the clothes we wear or the materialistic items we own; all of that pales into insignificance at a time like this...it comes down to having a roof over our heads, food to eat and the relationships we have.

Stay healthy.
