Out Of The Forest And Onto The Ring

A personal project

As part of The National Trust’s conservation project, a small herd of New Forest ponies were introduced onto Cissbury Ring in 2016 to try and help return it to it’s true form as chalk grassland, one of the rarest habitats in the U.K.

Since their arrival, I have been documenting them as often as I can. Capturing them in all seasons and in all weathers; watching them change from little fluffy tailed yearlings into chilled four year olds, each with their own personality.

Each image is available to purchase as a digital download.

**a new group was introduced in 2022 when the first herd reached maturity. It’s why you may notice that the ponies look different to the earlier pics
